Industry is a simple idea: create a spot we'd want to hang out after a long shift (or before a shift). Great restaurants do more than serve food; they bring people together.
We embody this today in both our San Marcos and East Austin restaurants. It's where friends meet, families celebrate, coworkers unwind, and neighbors become regulars…all over scratch-made Texas comfort food, strong drinks, genuine hospitality, and a laid-back atmosphere.

The Story Behind Industry
Long before Industry opened its doors, hospitality was already a way of life. Growing up in Texas, Harlan Scott worked his way from busboy to leading operations for some of Austin's most celebrated restaurants.
In 2018, Harlan teamed up with longtime friend and fellow restaurateur Cody Taylor to open the first Industry in downtown San Marcos, followed by the second in East Austin in 2022. What began as a tribute to the service industry has grown into a neighborhood restaurant and sports bar rooted in the community.

Why “Industry?”
If you've ever worked in a restaurant, you've probably heard someone say, "I'm in the industry." That's exactly where our name comes from.
Industry is a tribute to the servers, bartenders, cooks, dishwashers, and everyone working behind the scenes who make hospitality happen every single day.
It's why we've always welcomed fellow service industry workers with late-night hours, a service-industry discount, and a place that feels like home after a shift. But whether you've spent one day in a restaurant or never worked in one at all, our doors are open to everyone.
Because at the end of the day, great hospitality isn't about who's serving the food…it's about making people feel like they belong.
